8th Annual
LTS Conference 2005

"Shed Some Light On This"

September 9 - 11, 2005

With the absence of a 2004 LTS Conference, we have had an extra year to plan and make sure this year’s conference is better than ever. We have listened to what you have told us about the types of training classes you would like to see us offer and we believe that we have a great line-up of classes which will be taught by the industry’s top instructors. Spend the weekend learning from John Thornton, John Anello, Wayne Colona, Scot Manna and Randy Dillman as well as networking with fellow technicians from all over the country. You’ll also want to spend some time in the trade show with our vendors. You won’t find any booths with alignment racks, lifts or body shop tools, only the latest in diagnostic test equipment. Last, but not least, you won’t want to miss all the free giveaways which totaled over $20,000 in the 2003 LTS conference.

Highlights from this Conference available in our September 2005 Newsletter. Download or view a copy through this link.

Class Descriptions

  • J2534 And You by Randy Dillman:
In 2004 SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) adopted a new method for reprogramming on-board vehicle controllers. This new method uses a new tool, the J2534 Pass-Through device, and the O.E.’s website to allow a technician to install and code new controllers via the internet (without the use of a factory scan tool). This class will explore the subject using case studies of the Actia’s PassThru XS Plus device by a guy that has lived the pain of getting the bugs worked out!

  • GM Displacement on Demand by Scot Manna:
GM’s latest attempt at "more power, less gas", that reminds us of the 1980’s Cadillac 8-6-4 engines. This class will cover theory and operation of this new system which is being used on the 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer EXT, the GMC Envoy XL and Envoy XUV.
    Scope Waveforms from Scot's Presentation...

  • Diagnostic Approach by John Anello:
This class will cover the strategies used to diagnose no start and drivability problems on fuel injected cars of today. John will present a troubleshooting guideline that will allow a technician to differentiate between an engine or computer related problem. He will lead you through power and ground checks, sensor and component checks as well as covering the many different computer strategies he has learned in the field. His presentation will give you a true Real World grasp of what to expect out in the field with the 60 slides of pics & waveforms he has collected for this class.

  • Computer Reprogramming on the Big 3 by Scot Manna:
This class will introduce you to the how and why of vehicle computer reprogramming also known as computer flashing. The need to program modules on vehicles is growing everyday. Learn what modules can be programmed, and how the many different manufacturers are applying this technology on their vehicles. The Big 3 domestic manufacturer’s procedures for flashing will be shown. Case studies on how this procedure should be applied in the field will also be covered. This class will help both shop owners and technicians better understand this growing service area.

  • "Insights" by Wayne Colonna from ATSG:
This seminar contains answers to a large variety of erratic automatic transmission behavior caused by different sensor input malfunctions, compromised grounds, software and computer strategy related issues and other odds with an end that has nothing to do with pulling the transmission to fix the problem.

  • Bus Communications by John Thornton:
According to the critiques from our last conference, this is the most-requested topic. This class will cover GM Class 2 communications as well as Chrysler PCI communications. Theory as well as real-world case studies will be presented.
